Higher education is vital for personal and professional development. It equips individuals with specialized knowledge and critical thinking skills, enhancing career prospects and income potential. It fosters intellectual growth, broadens perspectives, and promotes lifelong learning, contributing to societal progress and innovation.
On October 24, 2023, upper-school students were exposed to Career opportunities at the University of Technology, Jamaica in Kingston which is committed to the total education of the individual as a social being as they seek to develop the whole person in terms of personal well-being, social and intellectual competence and also promotes life-long learning, personal development and service to the community. As a group, we were given the opportunity to learn about courses on how we can further our education. Some of the schools/courses that we were exposed to are
Faculty of Law
Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies
Faculty of Science and Sport
Faculty of Engineering and Computing
College of Health Sciences
College of Oral Health Sciences
College of Business and Management
School of Hospitality and Tourism Management
Forensic Science Division
The UTECH Academy
Prior Learning Assessment
During our time we got the opportunity to view the campus on our own and learn about the school. Higher education at a college/university is essential for several reasons. It provides in-depth knowledge and expertise in chosen fields, leading to better job opportunities and career advancement. College fosters personal growth, critical thinking, and social skills, preparing individuals for life's challenges and contributing to a more informed, skilled workforce. We thank the Guidance & Counselling Department for organizing a Career Field Trip for upper school students of St. Catherine High School to be aware of more career opportunities
